You know when you’re in the middle of making a big decision, and something happens that confirms you’re on the right track? Sage’s senior portrait session at Aldridge Gardens felt just like that.

The week of our session, Sage graduated from Vestavia High School. Now she’s on her way to Auburn University as a pre-vet student! Choosing Aldridge Gardens for her senior portraits felt like the perfect nod to her love for animals and nature. And somehow, someway, the wildlife absolutely showed up for her session.

Within minutes, the sweetest cat wandered out of the woods and immediately attached itself to Sage. It followed her around the garden and even rubbed its face against her! Later, a pair of geese perfectly swam behind her during photos, and we even spotted a chipmunk darting around nearby. It honestly felt like every animal at Aldridge Gardens came out to confirm that Sage is exactly where she’s supposed to be.

As a senior portrait photographer, I love how sessions at Aldridge Gardens often feel organic and full of little surprises. Between the blooming greenery and winding paths, it was the perfect backdrop for celebrating such a huge milestone for Sage! After wrapping up at Aldridge, we finished the session at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, another favourite!

Sage is kind, joyful, and absolutely stunning, and I had the best time documenting this exciting transition into her next chapter. Auburn is lucky to have her!
